On March 21st, the global community celebrates World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD). This date—the 21st day of the 3rd month—was chosen specifically because Down syndrome is caused by a third copy of the 21st chromosome.
Since March 21st falls on a Saturday this year, we are celebrating early! On Friday, March 20th, we invite everyone to participate in “Lots of Socks (Silly Sock Day)!” The idea is simple: wear your brightest, loudest, most colorful, or even mismatched socks! Why socks? Because under a microscope, chromosomes actually look a little bit like pairs of socks. Wearing “silly” socks is a fun way to start a conversation about diversity and show our support for people with Down syndrome.
Let’s fill our hallways with color and show the world that our school stands for inclusion!

Driving tips for this Valentines Day (and everyday)….coming to you from TZD (Toward Zero Deaths) Minnesota!
• Slow down for your sweetheart: Speeding is a leading factor in fatal crashes. Getting home a few minutes later than desired is worth it if it means arriving alive.
• Put the phone down for the people you love: No text, video, post or notification is worth missing a lifetime of milestones. Let them know you’re heading home, then put the phone away until you’re parked.
• Buckle up for your family: It’s the simplest way to show you care about your future together

Happy Valentines Day GSL. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. If you ever need anything from me, please reach out and I will help you as best as I can. Take care, Chris

GSL School Update February 5, 2026

Here is your GSL School Update for February 4, 2026.

I realize that there has been several emails to families. Thank you for reading. If this information doesn’t permit you to you, please delete it. We are trying to communicate necessary information, and there is a lot going on and we have several requests to send information out.

Reminder to Lakeside students/families…….please make sure you are checking in with your teacher during our E Learning time……our teachers will attempt to check in with you if we don’t hear from you. Students are also encouraged to send emails to their teacher if they have any questions. Our staff is here to help.

Reminder that we do have childcare available that is taking place in the Lincoln gym. We ask that you take advantage of this service if it is necessary for you as a family. We want to help……..however, we cannot have 400 students in the Lincoln Gym, so we thank families for making this work during our time of E Learning. Thank you for helping us with this balance.

The plan continues to be that Lakeside will be E Learning until February 13. We are expecting to be back in the building on February 17, 2026, ready to have school. Thank you again for your flexibility and patience.
